6ft Olympic Bars

A 6ft Olympic bar gives you the loading capacity of a full-size barbell in a more compact package. Shorter and easier to handle, these bars are a smart choice for smaller gyms, home training spaces, studios and anywhere a full 7ft bar is too much. All bars take standard 50mm Olympic plates.

6ft Olympic Bars for Commercial and Home Gyms

Not every gym has room for a full-length barbell. A 6ft Olympic bar is around a foot shorter than the standard 7ft bar, which makes it easier to store, easier to manoeuvre and a better fit for compact racks, benches and training areas. It still has rotating 50mm sleeves that accept Olympic plates, so you can load it for heavy training just as you would a longer bar.

At UK Gym Equipment, we supply commercial-grade Olympic bars from leading brands, including our own Future range, to suit a variety of budgets and spaces. Whether you’re fitting out a studio, equipping a functional training area or building a home gym, you’ll find options to suit your needs.

Why Choose a 6ft Olympic Bar?

Space-saving: The shorter length fits smaller racks, cages and home gym layouts, and takes up less room in storage.

Easier to handle: A lighter, more compact bar is easier to move, load and rack, which suits a wide range of lifters.
Fits standard Olympic plates: The 50mm sleeves accept all standard Olympic plates, so you can use the weights you already own.

Versatile: Suitable for squats, presses, deadlifts, rows, curls and more, making it a useful addition to almost any training area.

Great for varied users: Smaller lifters, beginners, juniors and group classes often find a shorter bar more comfortable and manageable.

Choosing the Right 6ft Bar

Check the weight of the bar, the maximum loading capacity and the knurling, as these affect how it feels and performs. Sleeve rotation (bushings or bearings) and finish (chrome, black oxide, zinc or cerakote) also vary between bars, so choose the specification that suits how heavily and how often it will be used. Also make sure your rack or bench is compatible, as the usable loading space between the sleeves is shorter than on a full-length bar. If you need a full-length bar for heavy powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting, browse our Olympic bars.

Pair Your Bar With the Right Plates

Bars are only as useful as the weights you load onto them. Browse our Olympic plate weights or choose a ready-made Olympic bar and weight set to get a bar and plates in one order. For arm training, take a look at our EZ curl Olympic bars.
